Learning centers and guided reading are incorporated into the interdisciplinary instructional program. The kindergarten students experience literacy through the use of learning centers, direct instruction and guided reading. The Kid Writing Program is a vital part of a kindergarten child's literacy development. Students will be writing to communicate from their very first day of school. Big books and hands on learning will be used to support literacy in the content areas of science and social studies in interdisciplinary instruction. Students will experience Calendar Math and hands-on problem solving in our Math Investigations Program. The interdisciplinary curriculum is taught, emphasizing the themes: OBSERVING, DISCOVERING and IMAGINING.
