At a recent district administrators’ meeting, information was shared regarding the utilization of illegal drugs in our area. As you may know, many illegal drugs resemble “candy”. One such drug is referred to as ‘strawberry quick’. ‘Strawberry quick’ or ‘Strawberry Meth’, looks like strawberry pop rocks, (the candy that sizzles and ‘pops’ in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and has been handed out to children in school yards. Children are ingesting the substance thinking it is candy and then suffering dire consequences including being rushed to the hospital for treatment. This drug also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape, and orange flavors. This information is being passed to raise awareness of the presence of drugs and to speak with your children as partners for their safety and security.
