The reading/language arts program implemented in fourth grade focuses on the themes of CAUSE & EFFECT, INTERPRETING and JUSTIFYING. It includes shared reading from anthologies, as well as literature discussion groups, book conferencing and writing workshop. The history of the Pennridge Community, Bucks County, and Pennsylvania are incorporated into the fourth grade social studies curriculum. The History Alive Curriculum is used to actively engage students. Fourth graders also receive keyboarding instuction in technology. In science, students learn about plant and animal interaction, simple machines, rocks and minerals, and earthquakes and volcanoes. Technology is incorporated into various curriculum studies. The Investigations Math Program is used to foster problem-solving. In the Spring the fourth grade students will participate in the PA State Reading/Math Assessment.
